The Bird-god took leave today and decided to pay his subjects at the Jurong Bird Park a visit. (It is a free visit because I got a complimentary pass from a friend. If you had to ask how I got it, I’ll tell you that’s because I am Nelson – aka Niao Shen [鳥神], the Bird-god.) After a long wait at Boon Lay Interchange for about 15 minutes at around 1pm, the bus 194 finally arrived. (Bus 194 is a one stop bus – i.e. it stops at the Bird Park only and the trip to the Bird Park is about 5 minutes. You can take 251 there also but make sure you don’t take 251 back from the same stop or you will have fun touring parts of Tuas!) Anyway, according to the brochure that was given to me when I entered the Bird Park, there are 9000 birds in the park, and some of them are even born and breed in the park itself. |

I would say they have done a pretty good job trying to make the place attractive to tourists. It is obvious a lot of effort has been put in the Waterfall Aviary, Lory Loft, Swan Lake, Pelican Cove and the Flamingo Lake. There’s also the Panorail to take you from point to point if you do not want to walk in the hot sun. Unfortunately, it rained a little today so there wasn’t much to see at the Waterfall Aviary. However, it was great it rained or else I would probably have fried. Still, I managed to take some photos with my Panasonic FZ-8 when the weather was clear. |
And as usual, if the photos are bad, it’s the fault of the camera-man. |

Changi Airport Terminal 3 Open House
I am on leave today and since I have nothing better to (I should have gone travelling), I took my Panasonic FZ8 and went to the Terminal 3 Open House at Changi International Airport.
It’s a nice terminal. I must say I liked it and I am quite impressed. Here are some of the photos I have taken… enjoy!
The last photo was taken at the StarBucks at Terminal 2 using my Nokia 7290. I wanted to grab a Mocha Frap and I forgot they are giving away free coffee today. I am amused by the number of cheapos in that queue. Did an about face after taking that photo and went back to Coffee Bean on the other end.
PS: There’s a fly picture on the urinals in T3 too… forgot to mention that. And yes, I had fun aiming at the fly when I pee…
Pulau Ubin Trip
Went with my church friends to Pulau Ubin today. It rained pretty heavily for about 30 minutes or so before the weather clears up. But that was good because it kept the entire morning cool as we broke up in groups to go around exploring the island on our own.
It is sad I have never been to Ubin for all my life until now. There are some quiet places away from the noisy and packed city which I liked, and it is a good escape from the city, though one of my church friends mentioned that today is a little quiet maybe because of the early morning rain causing some people to put off their plans to visit.
Here are some photos I took with my beloved FZ8…. and of course, modified with Picasa. 😛
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8
Got myself a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 recently. I took the opportunity to snap some photos with the camera at home to test the features, to see if it was as good as the FZ5 which I originally wanted. I must say I am not disappointed.
Today, I took it to the office to show my colleague, and since I was in the office early, I took the opportunity to snap some picture from where I am sitting. I like this camera, and I guess I need to read the manual and do more tests with it so in the future I can take better photos than these.
After work, I was about to take it home when another friend called me for dinner. So I decided to walk down to Marina Square – where I will be meeting my friend – and took some photos along the way.
The following is a slide show of the photos I have taken. And yes, if they are bad, it’s not the camera, it’s the camera man. (I guess I will be spending a little more money to keep this little baby safe and in proper working condition for the next few years. :))
The View From One Raffles Quay
Went to Reuters to for a short training on one of their products today, and took these photos of the view from their office during the lunch break.
The view is quite nice. But I wonder how those clowns with their million dollar condos will feel in the future with a lot of office workers looking into their apartement.
And damn… I almost wanted to work here.
